Leaning Into the Season You’re In: A Soft Reset for Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter
Share
Every season has its own energy.
Spring feels like new beginnings. Summer feels expansive. Fall feels like slowing down. Winter feels like rest (or at least, it's supposed to).
But most of us don't actually pause at the start of a new season. We just keep going at the same pace, doing the same things, wondering why we feel out of sync.
A seasonal reset helps with that.
It's not about setting big goals or making major life changes. It's just about asking: How do I want to feel this season? What do I want more of? What do I want to let go of?
What's in the printable?
This one-page worksheet includes 6 prompts to help you set gentle intentions for the season ahead:
- How do I want to feel this season? – Pick 1–3 words that capture the energy you want to carry
- One thing I want to try – Something new, something you've been putting off, something that sounds fun or scary or both
- One thing I want to release – A habit, a belief, a commitment, a worry—something that's been weighing you down
- What do I want more of? – Movement, stillness, laughter, time outside, creativity, rest—what's been missing?
- What do I want less of? – Rushing, screen time, saying yes to things you don't mean, comparison—what needs to shrink a little?
- My word or phrase for this season – One word or short phrase that captures how you want this season to feel
Each prompt has space to write, so you can take your time and really think through what this season could look like for you.
Why seasonal intentions work
Seasons naturally create rhythm. But we fight it. We try to hustle through summer like it's January. We try to start new projects in winter when our bodies want to rest.
Seasonal intentions help you work with the season instead of against it.
They give you permission to adjust your expectations. To try something new when the energy is right. To slow down when the season calls for it. To let go of what's no longer serving you.
And here's the thing: intentions aren't promises. They're just a way of saying "this is the direction I'd like to lean." If the season takes you somewhere unexpected, that's okay too.
Who this is for
- People who like the idea of fresh starts but don't want rigid goal-setting
- Anyone who feels disconnected from the rhythm of the year
- If you've ever thought "I should do something to mark the new season but I don't know what"
- People who want to be more intentional without pressure
How to use it
At the start of each season (or whenever it feels right), print this out.
Sit somewhere comfortable. Take 15–20 minutes. Work through the prompts. Write down whatever comes to mind. There's no right answer.
Once you're done, put it somewhere you'll see it—on your fridge, in your planner, folded up in your wallet. Come back to it mid-season and see how you're doing. Adjust if you need to.
Some seasons you'll feel super aligned with your intentions. Some seasons you'll forget about this entirely until the season is half over. Both are fine. This is just a tool. Use it however it fits into your life.
